What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. Some are essential for a site to work. Others are used to measure visits or for advertising.
Cookies we use
This website is deliberately light on cookies. We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used, but only if you accept when we ask. We don’t use advertising cookies.
| Cookie | Purpose | Type | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
so1_consent | Remembers whether you accepted or rejected analytics cookies, so we don’t ask on every page | Essential | 180 days |
_ga, _ga_* | Google Analytics: tells visits apart so we can count visitors and see which pages are useful. Only set if you accept. | Analytics (optional) | 13 months |
so1_guides | Set when you fill in the form for one of our free guides, so you can download our other guides without filling it in again. It holds a reference number, not your details. | Functional | 180 days |
wordpress_test_cookie | Checks whether your browser accepts cookies when you visit the login page | Essential | Session |
wordpress_logged_in_*, wordpress_sec_* | Keep website administrators signed in | Essential (staff only) | Session, or up to 14 days |
Our client portal is a separate service with its own sign-in and cookies, which are explained when you use it.
Third-party services
Our fonts are hosted on our own server. Pages that show our Google reviews load the reviewers’ profile pictures from Google, so Google may log your IP address, but no cookies are set for this. See Google’s privacy policy.
If you accept analytics cookies, your browser loads Google Analytics from Google, which processes information about your visit (such as pages viewed, approximate location and device type) on our behalf. See Google’s privacy policy.
Links to our LinkedIn and Facebook pages are plain links. Nothing from those networks loads until you click.
Managing cookies
You can change your analytics choice at any time with the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page. If you withdraw consent, we delete the analytics cookies.
You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies only affects signing in to the website’s admin area.
