Business CCTV, installed by people who understand networks
Modern CCTV is network equipment: cameras, recorders, remote apps and storage. Too many installs leave it on the office network with default passwords and port-forwarding to the internet. We survey, design and install camera systems that capture what matters, are viewable securely from your phone, and don’t open a back door into your business.

Designed properly
A CCTV system that actually does its job
-
Cameras where they count
Placed by survey to cover entrances, tills, stock and vehicles, with the right lens for faces or number plates.
-
Clear day and night
High-definition cameras with proper low-light and infrared performance, so footage is usable when it matters.
-
Secure remote viewing
Live and recorded footage on your phone or laptop, without risky port-forwarding on your router.
-
Reliable recording
Recorders sized for the retention you need, with health alerts if a camera or disk fails.
-
On its own network
Cameras segmented away from your office computers, so a camera can’t become a way in.
-
Supported afterwards
Adjustments, additions and faults handled by the same team that looks after your IT.
Remote access
Check the shop from the sofa, securely
Remote viewing is the feature everyone wants, and the one most often set up insecurely. We configure access through the manufacturer’s secure cloud or your own VPN, protected by strong passwords and two-step sign-in, with separate logins for each person who needs access.
When something happens, you can find the clip quickly, export it and share it with the police or your insurer.

CCTV and UK GDPR
Cameras record personal data. Set them up accordingly.
Business CCTV is covered by data protection law. The ICO expects you to have a clear reason for each camera, avoid filming areas where people expect privacy, display signs, keep footage no longer than necessary, and be able to respond to requests from people who’ve been recorded.
We design systems with that in mind: sensible camera angles, privacy masking where needed, agreed retention periods and export tools that make access requests manageable. For your legal obligations, the ICO’s guidance on video surveillance is the reference point.

FAQ
Business CCTV questions
Can’t see your question? Call 01843 482 279 or email hello@squareoneit.co.uk. You’ll get a straight answer from an engineer.
How long is footage kept?
It depends on the recorder’s storage, the number of cameras and the quality settings. Many businesses keep around 30 days. We’ll size storage for the retention you need and set it to overwrite automatically.
Do we need to put up CCTV signs?
Yes. The ICO expects clear signage so people know they’re being recorded and who to contact. We’ll advise on wording and placement.
Can you add cameras to our existing system?
Often, yes, if the recorder is compatible and still receiving security updates. If it isn’t, we’ll explain the options.
Can the cameras use our Wi-Fi?
Wired cameras are far more reliable and are powered through the same cable. We use Wi-Fi cameras only where cabling genuinely isn’t possible.
