Business broadband, chosen for your building

Your connection is the one thing everything else depends on: Microsoft 365, cloud apps, card payments, phones. We check exactly what’s available at your address, recommend the right option rather than the easiest to sell, and support it as part of your IT, so there’s only one number to call.

Your options

Four ways to get connected, and when each makes sense

There isn’t a single best connection, only the best one for your building, your team size and how much downtime would cost you. A five-person office in Broadstairs and a busy warehouse on an industrial estate need very different things.

We look at availability at your exact address, your current usage, what you run in the cloud and whether you need guaranteed repair times, then recommend a primary line and, where it matters, a backup.

Staying online

Backup connections, so a digger doesn’t stop your day

Every line fails eventually: roadworks, a flooded cabinet, a fault at the exchange. For many businesses, a few hours offline means lost sales and idle staff.

We can add an automatic 4G/5G or Starlink backup that takes over within moments of your main line dropping, so card machines, phones and cloud apps keep working while the fault is fixed.

  • Automatic failover, with no one needing to touch the router
  • We monitor both lines and chase the provider when one drops
  • Sized for what matters most: payments, phones and key apps

The copper switch-off

Old phone lines are being retired. Is anything still on yours?

The UK’s PSTN and ISDN network is being switched off, with the national migration due to complete by January 2027. Broadband that relies on a phone line, analogue alarms, lift lines and older card machines all need moving.

We’ll check what depends on your lines and move it across in a planned way: SoGEA or full fibre for broadband, VoIP for phones.

FAQ

Business broadband questions

Can’t see your question? Call 01843 482 279 or email hello@squareoneit.co.uk. You’ll get a straight answer from an engineer.

Is business broadband different from home broadband?

Usually, yes. Business services come with faster fault response, static IP addresses for remote access and VPNs, business-grade routers and support that understands your set-up. Many also have better contention and traffic management at busy times.

Can we keep our phone number if we change connection?

Yes. If your number is on a traditional line, we’ll port it to a VoIP phone system as part of the move, so customers keep calling the same number.

How long does installation take?

SoGEA and full fibre are typically installed within a few weeks, depending on availability and whether any work is needed at your premises. Leased lines take longer, often a couple of months, because a dedicated fibre may need to be laid. Starlink can be up and running within days.

Do you support the connection after installation?

Yes. That’s the point of buying it through your IT provider. If the line drops, we raise and chase the fault with the carrier and keep you updated, while making sure your backup connection is carrying the load.

Is full fibre available in my part of Kent?

Full fibre coverage across Kent is growing quickly but varies street by street, especially in historic town centres and rural areas. Send us your postcode and we’ll check.
