More than antivirus: eyes on every device, 24/7

Traditional antivirus looks for known bad files. Modern attackers use stolen logins, legitimate tools and brand-new malware that no list has seen yet. Managed detection and response (MDR) watches how every device behaves, stops suspicious activity automatically, and puts real security analysts on the case, day and night.

Antivirus vs MDR

What changes with managed detection and response

Traditional antivirus Endpoint protection with MDR
Finds known malware Yes, from signature lists Yes
Spots new or fileless attacks Rarely Yes, by behaviour
Stops a threat mid-attack Sometimes Kills processes, isolates the device
Humans reviewing alerts Nobody, unless you check Security analysts, 24/7
Tells you what happened A log entry A plain-English incident summary

How it works

Detect, contain, investigate, fix

A lightweight agent on every laptop, desktop and server records what’s happening: processes starting, files changing, network connections. When behaviour matches an attack pattern, such as a document launching scripts or mass file encryption, it’s stopped immediately.

Then people take over. Security analysts review the alert around the clock, confirm whether it’s real, and contain it. Our team handles the clean-up and tells you exactly what happened.

  • Ransomware behaviour stopped before files are encrypted
  • Compromised devices isolated from the network in seconds
  • Suspicious logins and tools such as remote-access software flagged
  • Monthly reporting so you can see what was stopped

Covered devices

Protection wherever your team works

  • Laptops & desktops

Protected in the office, at home or on public Wi-Fi, with policies that travel with the device.

  • Servers

File, application and database servers, often the real target of an attack.

  • Visibility

One view of every device’s health, so an unprotected machine never slips through.

FAQ

Endpoint protection questions

Can’t see your question? Call 01843 482 279 or email hello@squareoneit.co.uk. You’ll get a straight answer from an engineer.

What does MDR stand for?

Managed detection and response. The software detects and responds to threats on each device, and a team of security analysts manages the alerts around the clock, so you’re not relying on anyone in your office to notice.

Will it slow our computers down?

Modern agents are lightweight and designed to run without noticeable impact on everyday work.

Do we still need Windows Defender or other antivirus?

We configure your devices so protection works together without conflicts. You won’t need to buy or manage separate antivirus.

Is MDR included in your IT support plans?

Yes. Endpoint protection with MDR is included on every plan, from Essentials at £23 per device per month (excluding VAT). Complete adds a managed endpoint firewall.

Put professional eyes on every device

MDR comes as standard on every SquareOne managed IT plan, and can be deployed on its own if you have an existing IT provider.
