VoIP phone systems

Business phones that follow your team

A cloud phone system rings wherever your people are: a desk phone in the office, an app on their mobile, or Microsoft Teams at home. Keep your existing numbers, route calls exactly how you want them, and stop paying for lines and hardware the copper switch-off is about to make obsolete.

The deadline

The copper phone network closes by January 2027

BT and Openreach are retiring the traditional PSTN and ISDN network, and every business line is moving to digital. If you still have an old phone system, ISDN lines or analogue devices plugged into the wall, now is the time to plan the move, not when the line goes quiet.

Features

Everything a modern business phone system should do

  • Ring anywhere

Desk phones, a mobile app and Microsoft Teams all ring from your business number, so personal mobiles stay private.

  • Ring groups & queues

Calls reach the right team first time, with queues and overflow so nobody gets an endless ring.

  • Opening hours

Different routing for lunchtimes, evenings and bank holidays, changed from an app, not a call to an engineer.

  • Voicemail to email

Messages arrive in your inbox as audio, so they’re never missed.

  • Call recording

Optional recording for training, disputes and compliance, stored securely.

  • Call reporting

See missed calls, busy periods and response times, and staff accordingly.

Switching over

Moving your number without missing a call

Number porting sounds daunting. It isn’t, when it’s planned. We set up the new system alongside your current lines, test every route, train your team, then move the number across on an agreed date. Most businesses don’t notice the switch.

  • Existing numbers kept, including memorable and freephone numbers
  • Call flows designed with you before anything goes live
  • Handsets delivered pre-configured, or use the apps on devices you have

FAQ

VoIP and phone system questions

Can’t see your question? Call 01843 482 279 or email hello@squareoneit.co.uk. You’ll get a straight answer from an engineer.

Will call quality be as good as a landline?

On a good business connection, yes, and often better, with HD voice. We check your broadband and network capacity first and prioritise voice traffic so calls stay clear when the office is busy.

Can we use Microsoft Teams for calls?

Yes. Your business numbers can ring in Teams, so staff make and take external calls from the same app they use for chat and meetings.

What happens to our alarm or card machine lines?

Some devices still rely on analogue lines. As part of the move we list everything connected to your current lines and plan a digital alternative for each, so nothing stops working on switch-over day.

What if the internet goes down?

Calls can divert automatically to mobiles or another site, and with a backup 4G/5G connection your phones keep working through most outages.

Do we have to buy new handsets?

Not necessarily. Many people use the mobile and desktop apps only. Where desk phones are wanted, we supply pre-configured handsets.
